Level 2 Certificate in Water-Based Exercise.
There is a great demand for Water-Based Exercise Instructors out there and training to teach aqua aerobics is great way to Increase your earning potential as a Fitness Instructor and enhance the skills you already have.
This qualification will suit qualified fitness/group fitness instructors who would like to widen their skills outside of a gym or studio environment.
What you need to know to train aqua aerobics
It will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare and deliver safe and effective group water-based exercise sessions. Learners are given an understanding of the principles of instructing water-based exercise, how the properties of water affect exercise and the additional health and safety requirements for delivering sessions in a water-based environment.
Learners must be 16+ and hold a suitable Level 2 fitness instructing qualification, such as the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing, Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training, Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or a Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification. Experience of water-based exercise is also useful.
This is a 2 day course and there is a practical assessment on day 2, so we usually run this on 2 consecutive Saturday or Sundays so you have a week to plan and prepare a session to teach
In the training we look at the effects water has on the body and the effects of levers, gravity, buoyancy, floatation, turbulence and resistance on water-based exercise
There are a range of movements to consider when planning water-based exercise sessions and Propulsion is one of them, this is where we use our levers (arms and legs) to overcome and manipulate the resistance of the water
